BOTH sides finish with nine
men as Burnley are comprehensively beaten at the KC Stadium.
The Clarets put in a poor performance, reminiscent of the New Years
Day defeat at Blackpool, as first half goals from Frazier Campbell
and Ricard Garcia had the Tigers the spoils.
But the game will be remembered by the actions os referee Mike
Riley, who sends off two players from each side during a crazy six
minute spell towards the end of the second half.
Campbell gave Hull the lead after a quarter of an hour, as his
tame shot squeezed under the body of Brian Jensen and rolled over
the line.
And it was 2-0 when Garcia's thunderous effort from 40 yards beat
Jensen, as it arrowed into the top corner.
The win was nothing more than the home side deserved, as Burnley
were outfought in every department.
But the game turned nasty when Steven Caldwell and Caleb Folan
clashed in the Burnley box, with Folan handed a straight red for
an alleged elbow.
Caldwell was also booked for his part in the incident, and within
minutes, he had received his second yellow card, thus following
Folan down the tunnel.
And in another off the ball incident, this time in the Hull box,
Jay-Jay Okocha was brandished with a straight red card after a clash
with Joey Gudjonsson, with the Icelandic international following
him off the field after also being sent off.
But as it was, Burnley lost the game in the opening half hour,
as their play-off hopes suffered a major setback.
