Stoke City 1, Burnley 1

BURNLEY are denied an impressive away win by Liam Lawrence's late penalty.

Jon Harley is adjudged to have pushed Stoke substitute Jon Parkin when clean through on goal, and despite going the wrong way, Gabor Kiraly is beaten from the spot.

The goal is harsh on the Clarets, who more than withstood constant pressure from their hosts, who rarely created a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Burnley had the lead inside three minutes, when a flowing move down the right ends with Kyle Lafferty shooting low and hard under Carlo Nash.

The goal looked certain to have given Burnley all three points, but it wasn't to be as Owen Coyle's side stay within touching distance of the top six.
