WADE Elliott's first goal of the season gives Burnley a massive three points against Charlton.

The former Bournemouth received a ball from Robbie Blake after a quick throw from Graham Alexander, and arrowed a fantastic left foot shot into the top corner.

That goal came just before the hour, but in truth, Burnley edged a tight contest on a night where many of the sides in and around the play-off places lost.

Former Claret Andy Gray did little up front for Charlton before he was substituted in the second period, but he did go clean through in the second period only to be denied by a brilliant last ditch challenge from Clarke Carlisle.

And the win moved Burnley to within a point of the play-off places, and to within one point of Charlton in fifth.
