FORMER Preston striker David
Nugent has knocked Burnley out of the Carling Cup with a controversial
70th-minute strike at Turf Moor.
Nugent appeared to handle as he took down Pedro Mendes' pass, before
finishing well inside Gabor Kiraly's right-hand post.
Burnley competed well throughout, without ever overworking Jamie Ashdowm
in the Pompey net, but Harry Redknapp's side had the better of the
second period, and Nugent's effort proved to be the winner. |
