BURNLEY'S season ends in disastrous circumstances as they are hammered at Selhurst Park.

Owen Coyle suffers his heaviest defeat in charge of the Clarets as his side end the campaign with a whimper in 13th spot.

And the signs were there from the word go, as within nine minutes, Burnley found themselves 2-0 down and down to 10 men.

Clarke Carlisle was given a straight red card on six minutes after he tangled with Scott Sinclair, with Ben Watson slamming the resulting spot kick past Brian Jensen.

And within three minutes, Victor Moses neat turn and shot doubled Palace's lead from close range.

Tom Soares slammed home the third after good work from Clinton Morrison, while Sinclair got his name on the scoresheet just after the restart with a low drive.

And they completed the rout when Morrison picked up a pass from Watson before shooting under Jensen.
